Solid POS for Restaurants

Compared to our old Revel Systems, getting set up with TouchBistro was surprisingly straightforward. I really appreciate how the Profit Management tools are integrated, and we've saved about 15% on ordering costs already. My only small gripe is that the Third-Party App Marketplace could use a few more integrations, especially with some niche accounting software beyond QuickBooks.

Easy setup, good support

Got the iPad POS System. Setup was quick, mostly straightforward. Had a question about Menu Management, customer support walked me through it. It's working well for our cafe. Happy with it so far.

Comprehensive system, great for multi-unit

We recently switched our multi-location restaurant group to TouchBistro, specifically for their Multi-Unit Management capabilities. The ordering process was handled by a sales rep who helped tailor a package including Point of Sale, Payment Processing, and the Labor Management module. Delivery of the hardware (Receipt Printers, Cash Drawers) was on time. The initial onboarding for our various locations took some coordination, but the support team was patient and thorough. We did have a minor issue with one of the Mobile Payment Terminals not connecting, but a quick call resolved it. The Floor Plan Creator was surprisingly intuitive, and the Reporting & Analytics are robust, giving us a much clearer picture across all our sites. It's a big system, but they make it manageable.

Reliable and consistent system

This isn't my first time with TouchBistro. We've been using their Point of Sale for years now, and just added the Online Ordering. It's always been reliable. The system is consistent, and the integration with our existing setup was smooth, just like previous upgrades. That's why we stick with them.

Good features, some minor kinks

We signed up for the Restaurant Management Software and it covers most of our needs. The Inventory Management module is pretty good and saved us some headaches. I appreciate the Cloud Reporting features, very helpful. My only minor gripe was during the initial setup of the Kitchen Display System; it took a bit longer than expected to get synced perfectly. Overall, good value for the price, but there's always room for small improvements in the integration process.

How do you even get a referral code? My friend uses TouchBistro and said I should ask them, but I'm not sure how it works.

R Renee Vargas 1 month ago
Your friend should have a specific link or code they can share with you. When you sign up through that, you both get a credit, I think it's usually around $200-$500.

Just ask your friend to send you their referral link! That's how I got mine. It's usually not a 'code' you enter at checkout like a regular coupon, but a link that ties your new account to their referral. Super easy.

Can I use my own iPads with TouchBistro, or do I have to buy their specific hardware from them?

M Mike V. 2 months ago
You can definitely use your own iPads! Just make sure they're compatible, newer models are usually fine. Saves a bunch of money.

Yep, my restaurant just uses regular iPads we already had. They'll tell you which iOS versions are supported, but it's pretty flexible. You only really need their specific stuff for things like receipt printers or card readers sometimes.

Does anyone know if they do any kind of discounts for new customers? Like a free month or something, before I commit?

J Jared 1 month ago
They usually have a free trial, like 30 days. You should totally ask for that when you talk to them.

Yeah, I think they almost always offer a free trial. Not really promo codes you punch in, but they'll set you up with a trial if you do a demo with them. Ask about referral credits too, sometimes you can get a few hundred bucks off that way.

Thinking of switching from Square for Restaurants. Is TouchBistro really that much better for a sit-down place? Square feels kinda basic sometimes.

C Chris Z. 2 months ago
Yeah, I made that switch last year. TouchBistro is way more tailored for actual restaurants. The table management and floor plan stuff is a game changer compared to Square.

It depends on your specific needs, honestly. For pure quick service, Square is fine. But if you have reservations, complex menus, or want more detailed reporting, TB pulls ahead. I found their kitchen display system way better too.

Hey, thinking about getting this for my new coffee shop. Does it work even if the internet goes down? Super worried about losing sales during an outage.

R Rachel 1 month ago
It does, mostly. The core POS functionality works offline because it's iPad-based. It'll sync up once your internet is back.

G Gwen Beaumont 1 month ago
Yeah, it works offline for taking orders and processing payments (if you use specific hardware). Just gotta remember that cloud features like reporting or online ordering won't work until you're back online. But you won't halt service completely.
